The 2023 NFL season is officially underway, with the first Sunday of the season coming and going with some interesting results from some of the teams projected to be among the elite in the league this year.
Two teams that put on some stellar performances on Sunday were the San Francisco 49ers, who made easy work of the Pittsburgh Steelers on the road, and the Dallas Cowboys, who humiliated the division rival New York Giants in the Big Apple.
The Cowboys crushed the Giants with a 40-point shutout on the road in bad weather, which left a distinct impression because their defense was elite, and the fact it was the last game of the day, meaning it’s usually the first thing remembered on Monday.
Although Dallas put on a clinic against New York on their home field, Richard Sherman of FOX Sports believes the 49ers are the best team in the NFC right now because they are a more well-rounded team on both sides of the football, via “Undisputed” on Monday.

It’s hard to argue with Sherman’s point here because the 49ers are arguably the best all-around team in the NFL and proved it on Sunday, with Brock Purdy having an impressive performance and putting the quarterback concern to rest for the time being.
This could be a debate that goes back and forth all season long until these two teams go head-to-head, which takes place in Week 5 at Levi’s Stadium on October 8.
It’ll be interesting to see what happens over the next few weeks heading toward this showdown between these two storied franchises, as Week 5 could very well be the measuring stick for both teams.
