When Jonathan Taylor requested a trade from the Indianapolis Colts, it took the world by storm.
Many teams expressed interest in him, including the Miami Dolphins.
The Colts’ self-imposed deadline to trade Taylor came and went, which resulted in him staying with the team.
South Florida reporter Barry Jackson commented on the situation, likening it to what the Miami Heat are dealing with regarding Damian Lillard.
He believes both the Colts and Portland Trail Blazers expected too much out of these South Florida-based teams.
The trade compensation was the issue. Colts wanted package of good players and high picks. Colts and Blazers remain wildly unrealistic, misguided about how to resolve situations with disgruntled players https://t.co/BCxPasFBt4

Trade compensation can be a tricky situation to navigate in both leagues.
It can be difficult for two organizations to agree to a deal, especially since they value players differently.
In the case of Taylor, it was rumored that the Colts wanted Jaylen Waddle in the deal, a cornerstone of the Dolphins’ offense.
This would have been a tough sell for the Dolphins, especially given the current landscape of the running back position.
The Heat reportedly received a similar proposal with Lillard, as the Trail Blazers were rumored to want Tyler Herro in a trade.
Herro, similar to Waddle, is a key piece for the Heat.
For now, both teams are without the addition of the two star players.
There is traction building around Lillard, however, as some have indicated a deal will get done before training camp.
South Florida professional teams have generated a significant amount of buzz over the past several weeks.
Will this materialize into any major deals taking place?
