The Cincinnati Reds had a bit of an injury scare Tuesday night with their catcher Tyler Stephenson during the team’s game against the San Diego Padres.
In the bottom of the first inning, with the Padres leading 2-1 and a man on first, Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar hit a ball into the left field corner which was picked up by Tommy Pham.
Luke Voit was the runner on first and as soon as contact was made, Voit was off to the races.
However, the relay was perfect and Voit was ultimately thrown out at the plate.
But when Voit slid into home, he laid some contact on Stephenson, who was forced to exit the game.
Stephenson though, had the perfect comment on Twitter after the highlight was posted.
Only thing that matters is he was out https://t.co/tyJH3QWAYx

Keeping It Real
Stephenson appears to be taking the high road here, but his comment is perfect.
The good thing about the whole situation is that Voit was indeed out and laying contact on Stephenson didn’t help him at all.
On the flipside, however, Stephenson did sustain a concussion in the collision at home, which is just the latest blow for a team that has already been hit hard by injuries to start the season.
We’ll see if MLB decides to punish Voit for his slide.
One would think that it would warrant at least a suspension.
How long that suspension will be is anybody’s guess, but one can assume some punishment will be levied Voit’s way.
