The month of June is now underway as the 2023 season continues.
After a hot start to the season, the Boston Red Sox appear to have come back down to earth.
They now are just two games above the .500 mark and sit in the basement of the top-heavy American League East.
This past offseason, the Red Sox lost a few key pieces.
Pitchers Nathan Eovaldi and Michael Wacha both signed elsewhere.
Eovaldi joined the Texas Rangers while Wacha joined Xander Bogaerts on the San Diego Padres.
Eovaldi and Wacha were both named Pitchers of the Month for May.
On Twitter, Red Sox insider Pete Abraham reminded fans of the fact that both pitchers were with the team last year and ultimately walked in free agency.
The American League and National League pitchers of the month for May were Nate Eovaldi and Michael Wacha.

Wacha was one of the Red Sox’s most reliable starters in 2022.
Last season, he started 23 games and won 11 of them, posting a 3.32 ERA.
This year, he owns a 5-2 record with the Padres and has an ERA of 3.48.
Eovaldi has also been quite solid with the Rangers.
With Jacob deGrom out, Eovaldi has stepped up and taken on the ace role for the Rangers.
The veteran right-hander owns a 2.42 ERA and a record of 7-2 over his first 11 starts.
He joined the Rangers on a two-year deal.
This is especially frustrating for the Red Sox now that left-hander Chris Sale may be out for some time after leaving his start against the Cincinnati Reds with left shoulder soreness on Thursday.
But the Red Sox are now feeling the full effects of being without two of their most dependable starters from last season.
