Boston Red Sox fans are excited to watch the offseason unfold.
However, at the same time, they are worried about the front office’s ability to improve the team or, worse yet, at least secure some of their own free agents.
Shortstop Xander Bogaerts, who won the 2018 World Series and is arguably the best player on the team, opted out of his deal and is a free agent.
Third baseman Rafael Devers, another crucial lineup piece, will soon see his current contract expire and the Red Sox haven’t extended him.
Everything has been kind of quiet on the Red Sox’s front when it comes to adding talent.
Fans are getting desperate, even if the postseason is just a few weeks old.
The team published a Cyber Monday special, offering bonus dollars and a “puffy Red Sox vest” with the purchase of a Red Sox holiday ticket gift card of $50 or more.
Fans Want To See The Red Sox Invest In Their Own Players
A fan had a hilarious response to that offer.
“DONT SPEND MONEY ON THE RED SOX UNTIL THE RED SOX SPEND MONEY ON THE RED SOX. Sign Bogaerts and Devers and then we’ll consider buying stuff,” @artie_bos tweeted.

It’s a way to protest about the state of the team, after finishing last in the AL East this year.
Bogaerts is the most pressing Red Sox need: he is their starting shorstop, and even though they can theoretically move Trevor Story there if Bogaerts leaves, his production will be badly missed.
If the Red Sox lose both Bogaerts and Devers in the next two years, it’s hard to see the franchise not entering a deep rebuilding phase.
If they retain them, they can think about contention in 2023 and beyond.
