The Boston Red Sox have made a couple of intriguing signings during the offseason.
They added talented Japanese outfielder Masataka Yoshida, closer Kenley Jansen, third baseman Justin Turner, and starter Corey Kluber, plus several good relievers.
However, they lost star shortstop Xander Bogaerts and that alone has probably made them a worse team.
As an organization, the Red Sox are in a tough spot: fans who just witnessed a last-place finish in 2022 are expecting them to improve in 2023, but that will be hard to achieve without one of their best players.
They aren’t in a rebuild because they spent important resources on good veterans, but they are not looking like AL East favorites either.
In short, they are in a weird spot at the moment.
There might be someone able to save them.
“How can the Red Sox save their offseason? Sign 50-year-old Manny Ramirez. You’re welcome,” Red Sox insider Tyler Milliken jokingly tweeted.

Sign 50-year-old Manny Ramirez.
You’re welcome.

Look at him, he is in tip-top shape and hitting bombs at 50 years old!
Ramirez is actually a Red Sox legend, as he won not one, but two World Series championships with them in his stint there (from 2001 to 2008).
Manny is the all-time leader in postseason home runs with 29, many of which came with a Red Sox uniform.
In his career as a whole, he went to 12 All-Star Games (1995, 1998–2008), won the two Fall Classics, and a World Series MVP award in 2004.
He also took home a whopping nine Silver Slugger awards (1995, 1999–2006).
Ramirez can’t realistically save the Red Sox, but it’s fun to remember what he did and fantasize about what he could do if given the chance.
