The Texas Rangers may have been a disaster in recent seasons, but there was a time, not so long ago, in which they were World Series contenders.
Yes, that’s right.
In fact, the organization went to consecutive World Series in 2010 and 2011, and was one strike away from winning the latter had it not been for David Freese and the St. Louis Cardinals.
That was a talented Rangers team, but the catalyst of the lineup was definitely Ian Kinsler.
The second baseman had one of the most impressive power-speed combinations for a hitter in baseball, with two 30-30 seasons with the Rangers in 2009 and 2011.
He was a stalwart on those Rangers teams that were legitimate contenders, and as a result, the organization is preparing a huge honor for him.
“The Rangers announce 2B Ian Kinsler will be inducted in the team’s Hall of Fame. Kinsler spent eight seasons with the club and made three All-Star Game appearances. Also going into the Hall of Fame: team executive VP of communications @RangerBlake. Story to come,” Dallas News reporter Joseph Hoyt tweeted.

As a ballplayer, Kinsler went to four All-Star Games (2008, 2010, 2012, 2014), won the 2018 World Series as a member of the Boston Red Sox, and earned two Gold Glove Awards (2016, 2018).
