The Texas Rangers have been among the busiest teams this winter.
The team has mainly focused on its pitching staff, signing three solid arms in Jacob deGrom, Andrew Heaney, and Nathan Eovaldi and trading for Jake Odorizzi.
Early this morning, the team added to its depth at the catcher position, signing veteran backstop Sandy Leon to a minor league deal and giving him an invite to spring training.
Leon spent the 2022 season with the Cleveland Guardians and Minnesota Twins.
The veteran catcher has also spent time with the Washington Nationals, Boston Red Sox, and Miami Marlins.
Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic provided the news via Twitter.
Free-agent catcher Sandy León has signed a minor-league deal with the Rangers, a source tells @TheAthletic. Deal includes invitation to major-league spring training.

Texas already has Jonah Heim at the starting catcher position, with Sam Huff as the backup.
They also have Mitch Garver, who they acquired from the Twins before the 2022 season.
But Leon, should he make the Opening Day roster, could bring a solid veteran presence to a young team that appears ready to take the next step.
The 33-year-old made his Major League debut back in 2012 with the Nationals.
His best season came in 2016 with the Red Sox.
That year, he hit .310 with seven home runs and 35 RBI.
He hit just .169 in 2022.
For his career, Leon owns a .210 batting average.
He also was with the Red Sox when they won their most recent World Series title in 2018.
The Rangers have certainly been busy this offseason and may not be done adding just yet.
The pitching issues have mostly been addressed thus far.
