The Denver Broncos keep on winning in the offseason.
They’ve traded for Russell Wilson, making them legitimate contenders in the AFC.
Denver also acquired defensive lineman D.J. Jones from the San Francisco 49ers.
Their haul doesn’t stop there for they also signed defensive end Randy Gregory to a five-year, $70 million deal.
Initially, Gregory was about to extend his stint with the Dallas Cowboys.
However, that wasn’t meant to be as NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport pointed out.
And… there we go. Randy Gregory done to the #Broncos. Our first free agency plot twist. https://t.co/pNvCAYFHPM

Rapoport said, “And…there we go. Randy Gregory done to the #Broncos. Our first free agency plot twist.”
He tweeted this in response to fellow insider Mike Garafolo’s update which said, “Pass rusher Randy Gregory pulling a U-turn. He’s agreeing to terms with the #Broncos, as @VicLombardi reported. #Cowboys deal fell apart.”
After restructuring DeMarcus Lawrence‘s contract, signing Gregory to an extension was one of the Cowboys’ priorities.
However, the former Nebraska standout decided that he will be better off playing in Denver.
Gregory’s signing addressed the void that Shelby Harris left when he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks as part of the Wilson trade.
The 29-year-old Gregory finished the 2021 season with 15 solo tackles, six sacks, three forced fumbles, and an interception in 12 games played.
Significant Departures From The Cowboys
As Rapoport reported, the Cowboys lost Gregory because the team insisted on some contract language that basically protected the Cowboys.
While there are no specifics on what that provision is, he’s just one of the key players that Dallas lost in the past few days.
Aside from Gregory, the Cowboys said goodbye to Amari Cooper, Cedrick Wilson, and Connor Williams.
The departure of Cooper and Wilson depletes the receiving corps that quarterback Dak Prescott will work with next season.
