The Las Vegas Raiders have reached a stalemate with their best player.
They failed to reach an agreement with Josh Jacobs, and the star running back is reportedly ready to hold out.
The Raiders could even be forced to rescind the franchise tag, as he has no interest whatsoever in playing for them under those circumstances.
With that in mind, they’ve signed former Kansas City Chiefs running back Damien Williams, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Needless to say, Williams is nowhere near the player Jacobs is, and he has fewer rushing yards for his career (1,397) than Jacobs had last season alone (1,653).
But the fact of the matter is that the Raiders could be forced to lean upon a running back committee next season if Jacobs doesn’t show up; thus, adding more depth at the position is a wise decision.
It’s crazy to think that the Raiders failed to hold on to their best player, even despite the fact that he openly acknowledged his desire to stay with the organization for the remainder of his career, even despite their blatant lack of success.
But that’s just how brutal the market for running backs has been this offseason.
They don’t stand a chance to make the playoffs without Jacobs out of the backfield, and it shouldn’t take him long to find a new home if he were to become a free agent, as he’s one of the most impactful and underrated backs in the league.
This could be a very long season in Sin City.
