Ausar Thompson of the Detroit Pistons is one of the most exciting NBA rookies in the league right now.
After being selected as the fifth overall draft pick last month, Pistons fans have become really eager to see what Thompson can do for their team.
Thompson has a lot to prove – and he is ready to prove it.
Speaking with ESPN, via ClutchPoints, Thompson shared that he has his sights set high.
“I want to be one of the greatest players, ever. I want to win championships, bring championships to Detroit,” Thompson said.

That is quite a tall order because the Pistons are nowhere near winning a championship right now.
They ended last season with a league-worst 17-65 record.
The team has a few promising pieces in play, such as Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Thompson, and others.
But it’ll likely be a while before they are in the Finals.
Despite his hopes, Thompson hasn’t looked like one of the greatest players ever in the Summer League so far.
He scored just one field goal in his first game, although he definitely got a bit better in his second.
It will take time for Thompson to adjust to playing in the NBA.
Just like any rookie, he won’t be an All-Star overnight.
It’s good that he has these goals set for himself and he certainly does have a lot of attention and anticipation surrounding him.
One of the difficult parts about being a high draft pick is that you are typically sent to a struggling team.
That is definitely the case with Thompson and his Pistons.
So while Thompson wants to help Detroit reach a championship, that might not be possible for some time.
