Pirates Teammate Shares A Grand Comparison For Oneil Cruz

Since being recalled to the Pittsburgh Pirates, top prospect Oneil Cruz has provided them with a little bit of a spark.

This is a team that is well out of the postseason race, for all intents and purposes, but Cruz is somebody that is igniting hope for the future and making his case to be one of the Pirates’ future superstars.

The 23-year-old is getting some high praise from his teammates too.

Pirates veteran starter Jose Quintana certainly thinks Cruz has a bright future.

The left-hander even went as far as to say he could end up being an All-Star, like the likes of Aaron Judge.

MLB tweeted a graphic of Cruz that featured Quintana’s quote.

Cruz Earns A Veteran’s Praise

Quintana has been around for a long time and knows an All-Star when he sees one.

The 33-year-old has played with some solid ballplayers over the course of his career, so for him to have such high praise for Cruz so early in his career is really saying something, and it also speaks volumes to the potential of Cruz.

He does have a bright future, but Quintana thinks that he could one day even be as good as Judge.

That is certainly some high praise, but it wouldn’t be wise to discount Quintana’s insight.

He’s a veteran who has been around the game for a long time and has seen a ton of great players.

As previously mentioned, he knows an All-Star when he sees one, and if he thinks Cruz has the potential to be as good as Judge, one should assume that he isn’t just dreaming.
