The Pittsburgh Pirates have a new kid on the block, and they finally got to see what he could do at the major league level.

Oneil Cruz made his much-anticipated 2022 debut on Monday night as the Pirates played host to their NL Central division rivals, the Chicago Cubs.

The Bucs rolled to a 12-1 blowout victory over the North Siders and Cruz led the way, picking up two hits and driving in four runs.

It’s safe to say that the Pirates, and the rest of the baseball world for that matter, are in total and complete awe of what Cruz can do, and the Pirates did not hesitate to say as much on Twitter earlier this morning.

Peak Performance

Can you blame the Pirates for being amazed by Cruz?

No, you can’t.

Any team would be in shock over how good a top prospect can be, and Cruz showed what he was capable of on Monday.

Pittsburgh fans don’t have much of anything to cheer for right now, but this is one of those things they can celebrate.

No, they aren’t close to becoming a contender, but in a few years, Cruz could be a major part of their next great team, whenever that ends up happening.

As of now, they have him, Bryan Reynolds, and Ke’Bryan Hayes all in the same lineup.

That’s a little something to get excited about if you’re a Bucs fan.

If all three of these guys can produce at the same time, then the Pirates could have a very dangerous offense not long from now.

We’ll see what’s next for this up-and-coming young star.
