While Los Angeles Angels and Team Japan star Shohei Ohtani takes most of the headlines, that doesn’t mean he is the only true star in the World Baseball Classic.
Quite the contrary, in fact.
His teammate in Los Angeles and the captain of Team USA, Mike Trout, is another highly sought-after star.
Fans want an autograph with quite likely the best and most complete hitter of our generation, and everybody wants his attention even for a second.
This happens not just with fans: players, too, want to take pictures with Trout.
Roel Santos, who plays outfield for Team Cuba, asked Trout for a photo, and the Angels star said yes.
“That’s Mike Trout, stopping to take a photo with Cuban outfielder Roel Santos when the latter asked for it while they were leaving their respective clubhouses and toward their buses,” James Wagner tweeted.

Trout is admired by fans, owners, executives, managers, coaches, and players alike.
That’s what happens when you are the best at what you do: even colleagues approach to ask for pictures.
It’s not everyday you get a chance to take a picture with one of the best five players ever to step foot on a baseball field.
Trout’s generational talent, sadly, hasn’t yet delivered any titles for the Angels and hasn’t yielded a playoff appearance since 2014.
It’s hardly his fault, though.
Owner Arte Moreno and general manager Perry Minasian brought in some pitching (Tyler Anderson) and position players (Hunter Renfroe, Brandon Drury, and others) to help Trout and Ohtani get to October.
It won’t be easy, but they can definitely do it.
