The Philadelphia Phillies found themselves mired in a slump in the early part of the 2022 season.
After falling to 22-29, the Phillies chose to make a drastic change, firing manager Joe Girardi and promoting bench coach Rob Thomson to the managerial role.
From there, the Phillies took off and started winning games again, ultimately reaching the postseason as the third NL Wild Card team and knocking out the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres to reach the World Series.
Philadelphia ultimately fell short in the Fall Classic against the Houston Astros.
But much of the credit for their turnaround certainly goes to Thomson.
On Twitter, the Phillies posted a few quotes from some of their players about Thomson and what he means to them.

Phils Comment On Thomson
It’s clear that the Phillies players have a ton of respect for Thomson.
As Zack Wheeler alluded to, he’s a manager who cares for his players.
Thomson ended up being the exact right fit for the Phillies when he took over the managerial duties.
Philadelphia’s run to the World Series was certainly a magical one, as they managed to take out three of the top five teams in the National League.
But the feeling of respect between the players and Thomson is mutual.
Thomson helped them pick up the pieces after a poor start and guided them back to the postseason for the first time since 2011.
Thomson was not a finalist for Manager of the Year in the National League, but his impact on the Phillies made a difference in them overcoming their obstacles.
