With the Winter Meetings taking place next week, the defending National League champion Philadelphia Phillies have a certain top superstar on their radar.
After declining Jean Segura‘s club option, the Phils find themselves in the shortstop market.
The top four available shortstops are Trea Turner, Carlos Correa, Xander Bogaerts, and Dansby Swanson.
This morning, on MLB Network’s Hot Stove talk show, insider Jon Morosi provided an update on the Phillies and what their plans are in free agency.
Morosi stated that he believes the Phillies have emerged as the clear favorites to land Turner, and that he is expected to make an average annual value of $30 million in his next contract.

Phils Emerge As Favorites For Turner
After surprising the baseball world with their epic run to the World Series, the Phillies are well-positioned to make a play for Turner.
The 29-year-old hit .298 with 21 home runs and 100 RBI.
He also collected a total of 64 extra-base hits and logged 304 total bases during the regular season.
A perennial All-Star, Turner has a chance to land a large contract in free agency.
The Phillies would be a perfect fit, given his preference to play on the East Coast.
He would also be reunited with his former Washington Nationals teammate in Bryce Harper.
The move could make the Phillies instant favorites to return to the World Series as well.
The team dismantled the St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres before falling short against the Houston Astros in six games.
A lineup that features Turner, Harper, J.T. Realmuto, Rhys Hoskins, Kyle Schwarber, and Nick Castellanos would be dangerous.
