The Arizona Cardinals couldn’t wait for a second longer before hiring their new Head Coach.
All the top guys were already off-limits, and they had gone through several interviews already.
Notably, they still managed to snatch one of the most prominent names available, luring Philadelphia Eagles Defensive Coordinator Jonathan Gannon away.
Gannon became a quick riser among NFL ranks this season for his outstanding job with the Eagles’ defense, albeit the Super Bowl wasn’t exactly the farewell he was hoping for.
Sitll, NFL insider Peter Schrager reveals that the Cardinals wanted something that was the complete opposite from Kliff Kingsbury, and that’s exactly what they got with a ‘high-energy guy’ like Gannon.

Kingsbury’s tenure in charge of the team was full of shortcomings and late-season meltdowns.
It became evident that the roster was never going to fully tap into its potential with him, the guy that had a losing record with Parick Mahomes at Texas Tech.
Now, they’ll get a breath of fresh air with a defensive-minded guy who’s expected to take plenty of pressure off Kyler Murray’s shoulders, but it won’t be easy at first.
Murray suffered a torn ACL late in the season and he’s expected to miss the first stretch of the NFL campaign, with some even speculating that he could be out until the midpoint of the campaign.
So, the Cardinals will need to be quite patient and allow Gannon to do his job before making assessments on his performance, as they’ll be handicapped from the very start of the season.
