The World Baseball Classic is coming back in 2023.
It was originally supposed to take place in 2021.
However, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic had other plans, which forced the Classic to be cancelled for that season.
But in 2023, it will be back.
The last time it took place was 2017, when Team USA won the whole thing.
Lately, we have been seeing players commit to Team USA as they look to defend America’s World Baseball Classic title.
Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado are among the players who have committed, but New York Mets star Pete Alonso will also take part in the Classic, as he committed to Team USA earlier today.
Pete Alonso will play for Team USA at the 2023 World Baseball Classic, MLB announced on Twitter today.

Alonso Commits To Team USA
Team USA is going to have a stacked roster.
Goldschmidt and Arenado are already there, and now Alonso joins them.
Mike Trout, Trevor Story, J.T. Realmuto, and Bryce Harper are among some of the other players to have committed.
More are soon to follow.
But with these guys on their roster, Team USA is going to be a serious threat to repeat as WBC champions.
Jim Leyland managed Team USA back in 2017.
It isn’t confirmed yet who will manage them in 2023, but one thing is for sure.
This team is going to be absolutely stacked and have the pieces necessary to compete for another WBC championship.
Alonso is just the latest addition to what is going to be a very well-constructed roster, one that is full of star power and will soon consist of some great pitching.
We’ve waited a couple of years, but finally, the World Baseball Classic is back and it’s going to be fun.
A lot of great players will be featured as always, and it should be an interesting story.
