The 2022 Detroit Lions were a special team.
They started off the season looking like they were in for another top-3 pick in the NFL Draft, but they fought hard and had a legit chance to make the playoffs until Week 18.
They had already shown a lot of heart and competitiveness last season but lacked the personnel to make a legit playoff run.
Now, with another season under Dan Campbell, the players look quite close to each other and ready to run through a wall for the organization.
That’s exactly why OL Penei Sewell thinks this team is special:
“I was truly a part of something special,” Sewell told the media. “I thank Dan Campbell, and Brad Holmes for bringing me here, because I truly can’t see my life anywhere else than being here with [The] Detroit Lions. Every person that I come across in this locker room, I got love for. And, I don’t know how it is in any other building, but man I feel like everybody in this locker room is really close to each other and actually and genuinely care. And that’s the thing I really love most about this team. It really makes me wanna go even harder. ”

The Lions could legitimately be a threat for years to come, they’re just a couple of pieces away from actual contention.
And besides all the young talent, they have the ultimate motivator and leader in Dan Campbell.
So, don’t sleep on this team, as they can only get better next season.
