The San Francisco 49ers are, without a doubt, one of the most talented football teams in the NFL right now, as the team is stacked on both sides of the football and arguably one of the few Super Bowl title contenders in the NFC in 2023.
Although the defense still has Nick Bosa leading the way for the storied franchise, there have been some doubts about whether the 49ers defense can play at the same level, moving forward after some changes during this NFL off-season.
There’s no question that they are ready to compete as long as the quarterback situation is secure with Brock Purdy back on her center, but the defense may draw more attention and could be the key to competing once again next season.
Former 49er star Patrick Willis recently chimed in on the changes made on the defensive side of the football this offseason and whether he believes the team can still contend with the roster as currently constructed via 49ers on NBCS.

Willis doesn’t sound all that optimistic about the team’s chances to compete in the NFC next season, as it appears he is skeptical that the team can’t be as good on that side of the football in 2023.
Despite Willis’s skepticism, it remains to be seen what head coach Kyle Shanahan can get out of his squad on both sides of the football heading into the 2023 campaign, as the team could be just as good or may take a step back.
Only time will tell what San Francisco can and will do next season, but they’ll definitely be a team to watch moving forward.
