The Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl hopes rest on the health of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The soon-to-be-named two-time MVP is having another historic season.
With it all leading to him and the Chiefs back in the big game.
Mahomes suffered an ankle injury back in the AFC Divisional game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
He left the game for a brief time before returning in a hobbled fashion.
It was clear Mahomes was far from 100%, but he still did enough to win that game.
Then in the AFC Championship, Mahomes still struggled to move but looked mobile when necessary.
He commented on how stopping quickly and putting pressure on the ankle is his toughest task.
#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes says that the late hit out of bounds in the AFC title game, he rolled through it instead of trying to stop himself to protect his ankle. Biggest issue w/ the ankle is stopping quickly.

The extra week of rest leading up to the Super Bowl should be crucial for Mahomes.
That should give him the time necessary to get close to 100% for the big game.
Something to watch for in the Super Bowl is how much the Eagles pressure Mahomes.
He is the most gifted passer in the NFL and he can win from many different spots on the field.
Even at less than 100%, Mahomes should be able to make plays that other quarterbacks simply cannot.
Philadelphia has an elite pass rush as we saw in the NFC Championship Game.
They were all over Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson in that game, and two hits on them forced them to leave with injuries.
Kansas City’s offensive line will have their hands full in this game.
If they can keep Mahomes upright, the Chiefs have a great chance to win.
But, if not, it could be a long day at the office like we saw the last time the Chiefs made the Super Bowl.
