Most Washington Commanders players have never had a coach like their new offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.
The long-time Kansas City Chiefs OC took the job in Washington this offseason but controversy is already arising.
Not for anything bad, but because Bieniemy is reportedly coaching his new players too hard.
Bieniemy comes from a team in KC that won every year.
He was the OC of the best offense in football as they made five straight AFC Championship Game appearances.
Washington has not been that successful in the history of its franchise.
This is why Bieniemy stepped in and is looking to change the culture.
Current Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes came to the defense of Bieniemy and his coaching tactics, via the team’s YouTube channel.
Mahomes said “he is going to hold you accountable,” and also that “he is your number one supporter.”
Mahomes knows exactly what the Commanders players are going through with Bieniemy.
All five of Mahomes’ years as a starter have come with Bieniemy as the OC.
Mahomes even said he is a better player for working with Bieniemy all those years.
While the Commanders may not like how hard they are being coached they will enjoy winning games.
Bieniemy knows what it takes to win and he is trying to see how far he can push his new players.
Even though the Commanders lack the talent of the Chiefs, Bieniemy can still get the best out of his players.
It will be interesting to see how the Commanders’ offense operates this year with Bieniemy calling the shots.
