He has not been around for that long, but you can already divide Kansas City Chiefs’ history in before and after Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs were an ever-struggling franchise with one Super Bowl in 1969 and not much more to brag about, struggling to keep up with the rest of the AFC juggernauts.
Then, all of a sudden, this no-look passer with a curly mullet took over and turned the team into one of the most entertaining offensive machines this beautiful game has ever seen.
Mahomes’ reign with the Chiefs is just getting started, but he’s made history already.
He currently holds the record for the most playoff wins, most yards per game (303.1), and the highest quarterback rating (105.1), but there’s still one record he’s missing.
With a victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Texas Tech product could tie the Chiefs’ organization as a whole with nine playoff wins, which speaks volumes as to how much of a turnaround he’s been for the franchise.

To put it in context, the Chiefs hold a 13-18 playoff record since the 1970 merger, and Pat has led the way in eight of those.
Some believe he no longer has a shot at becoming the greatest player in NFL history after losing a Super Bowl to Tom Brady, but his story in the league is just getting started, and he’s put together a Hall of Famer kind or résumé already.
So, even if you’re not rooting for the Chiefs on Saturday, you might as well witness history in the making.
