It’s been a while since the Carolina Panthers tasted some postseason success.
After competing in Super Bowl 50 against the Denver Broncos, they have been on a downward spiral with just one postseason appearance over the last six seasons.
To add insult to injury, they did not win the 2017 Wild Card Game against the New Orleans Saints.
They have tried several things to reverse the trend, especially trading for quarterback Sam Darnold.
This offseason, they have also traded for Baker Mayfield in exchange for a conditional fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
But aside from another potential swap at quarterback, the Panthers would like to drum up some positive vibes by revealing their alternate helmet.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared the black Panthers helmet that goes well with their uniform.
The blue panther decal blends well with the black background, which makes their overall look meaner.
While the silver helmets are nice, the black ones look stunning.
Why couldn’t they use these as their main helmets instead?
Better yet, what took them so long to develop these?
Panthers Need More Than An Alternate Helmet To Compete
As they say, you feel good if you look good.
In that case, the Panthers might be motivated to play great football if the aesthetics are superb.
However, it takes more than another helmet to make them a serious contender.
While Mayfield is an improvement at quarterback, there are more quarterbacks better than him.
Rookie Matt Corral might even push him for the starting role if he plays inconsistently.
Worse yet, they are in the same division as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints.
Therefore, it’s hard to see them breaking their postseason slump this season.
While they could win more games, they are a number of players away from dethroning the top two teams in the NFC South.
