Are the Carolina Panthers cursed at quarterback since they let go of Cam Newton?

They tried to bring Newton back, but he brought nothing more but an emotional boost.

P.J. Walker did less while Sam Darnold couldn’t function well without Christian McCaffrey.

Likewise, they lost the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes to the Cleveland Browns.

Those developments means that their search for a quarterback continues and they’ve been attending the Pro Days of the top prospects in the 2022 NFL Draft.

They had a contingent when the Pittsburgh Panthers’ Kenny Pickett had his time with NFL coaches and scouts.

The Panthers were also there for Liberty’s Malik Willis’ Pro Day.

But within those events, the team also made a move regarding their Pro Bowl running back, as shared by ESPN NFL Nation reporter for the Falcons David Newton shared.

Between Pro Days for quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis the Carolina Panthers restructured the contract of RB Christian McCaffrey. On to Pro Day at Ole Miss for QB Matt Corral for Matt Rhule, Scott Fitterer and Co.

Newton said, “Between Pro Days for quarterbacks Kenny Pickett and Malik Willis the Carolina Panthers restructure the contract of RB Christian McCaffrey. On to Pro Day at Ole Miss for QB Matt Corral for Matt Rhule, Scott Fitterer, and co.”

McCaffrey’s restructured deal gives Carolina an additional $5.5 million in cap space.

That additional money brings their workable amount to $29,060,636, the most in the NFL.

Aside from a quarterback, the Panthers want a McCaffrey who will play an entire season.

Carolina’s Options At Quarterback

Trading for a quarterback might not be the best option because there are not many top options left.

They can make a push for either Jimmy Garoppolo or Baker Mayfield, but it may not improve their roster by much.

Therefore, the Panthers can use the sixth overall pick in the 2022 draft to select a play-caller.

After bolstering positions such as wide receiver, cornerback, and the offensive line, a quarterback should be one of their primary targets come draft day.
