The Chicago White Sox are expected to officially announce the hiring of Pedro Grifol as their new manager this week, according to several reports.
Grifol, 52, has been the Kansas City Royals bench coach for the last three seasons, and was in the organization when they won the 2015 World Series.
It took a few weeks for the White Sox to decide on Grifol.
They reportedly interviewed other candidates: one of them was 2005 World Series hero Oswaldo ‘Ozzie’ Guillen.
Some people adamantly opposed the prospect of Guillen returning, even though he is the man who led them to the World Series for the first time in decades.
After all, he hasn’t managed in about a decade.
Gullen Still Has Fans In Chicago
But others defended Guillen and are actually mad he wasn’t chosen.
Twitter user @pjhawks_ct tagged all the White Sox accounts and said: “@whitesox @GuillensWorld @OzzieGuillen @ozzie_guillenjr @whitesox you are an embarrassment. Hired a guy 9 years in an org and they won’t hire him, but you do. Have the best Mgr in your history wanting the job again and you pass. Canceling my season tickets TODAY. Good job.”

He is referring to Grifol as the “manager who was nine years in an organization and they (the Kansas City Royals) won’t hire him.”
Evidently, Ozzie still has his fans in Chicago.

In eight seasons managing the White Sox from 2004 to 2011, Guillen had a 678-617 record with a .524 winning percentage.
That 2005 postseason run was magical, as the team went 11-1 en route to the title.
He hasn’t managed in MLB since being fired by the Miami Marlins in 2012, which is why it’s probably for the best he wasn’t chosen by the White Sox this time.
He has been out of the game too long.
People still love him in Chicago, though.
A part of me really wanted to Ozzie Guillen managing again. Shame the White Sox chose logic.

Too bad. someone in the White Sox just does not like Ozzie and it comes down to probably a personal issue and NOT what is good for the White Sox.
