In recent days, it was reported by several outlets that Baltimore Orioles broadcaster Kevin Brown had been suspended for some comments he made about the team’s losing ways prior to this season.
They weren’t made with bad intentions: they were just facts offered in a broadcast to fans.
Orioles ownership apparently didn’t like what he said and suspended him for a few days.
The baseball community has heavily criticized the team’s stance over the whole saga: even fans in some stadiums have shown support to Brown, not to mention colleagues.
Brown will reportedly be back in the booth by Friday, and he offered a few words via Twitter trying to be a peacemaker.
“O’s fans – I’m a storyteller. And never want to be a part of the story. The most compelling story in baseball right now is the story of the league-leading Baltimore Orioles – the best, most exciting young team in the American League,” he stated.

He then went on about what happened, saying that media reports about the incident “mischaracterized” his relationship with the O’s.
He did say he has a wonderful relationship with the organization and that “(Orioles managing partner) John Angelos and I have a solid dialogue based on mutual respect. We are all good here in Birdland!”.
We really hope Brown can return to his activities without further incident, but the ideal scenario would be working in an environment that involves no censorship practices whatsoever.
There shouldn’t be any issues in saying the Orioles weren’t at their best three or four years ago.
