The collapse is complete.
The Milwaukee Brewers will not be going to the postseason in 2022.
With a 3-0 win over the defending AL Champion Houston Astros, the Philadelphia Phillies punched their ticket to the postseason for the first time in 11 years.
Now that the Brewers are eliminated, everybody is revisiting the day in which they traded away Josh Hader to the San Diego Padres.
The Brewers got lefty Taylor Rogers in return, who clearly did not pan out, blowing three saves and going 3-3 with a 5.48 ERA in 24 appearances.
Since the Brewers traded away Hader, their bullpen has blown 15 saves, which is the most in baseball.

How The Brewers Imploded
That right there was the moment that sunk the Brewers’ season.
While Hader wasn’t having his best season by any stretch of the imagination, he still was an anchor of sorts in their bullpen.
Having him and Devin Williams at the back end of the pen was what made their bullpen so dominant for so long.
The Hader trade changed everything and sent the Brewers into a tailspin.
That deal took the wind out of their sails.
The Brewers bullpen has been lost ever since without their anchor.
While Williams is a dynamic pitcher who has closer-type stuff, the loss of Hader didn’t help matters in any way.
The Brewers had a four-game lead over the St. Louis Cardinals at the end of July in the NL Central.
After the Hader trade, that lead evaporated, and the Cardinals took off, running away with their first NL Central title since 2019.
With two games left in the season, the Brewers will look to finish on a high note.
But it won’t take the sting out of their second-half collapse.
