The Indianapolis Colts are getting short-term stability by trading for former league MVP Matt Ryan without giving away much in return.
All the Colts gave the Atlanta Falcons was a third-round pick to acquire a quarterback that has a few great seasons left in him.
After nearly missing out on the playoffs last season with Carson Wentz under center, there’s a general belief that Indianapolis should do better next season after getting a more reliable play-caller.
Even players like wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. can’t help but say positive things about the transaction.
Random thought …. Bruh I really think Matt Ryan to the colts was actually 🔥, I think bruh will elevate and do sum special over there.

Beckham shared, “Random thought…. Bruh I really think Matt Ryan to the Colts was [fire emoji], I think bruh will elevate and do some special over there.”
By trading for Ryan, the Colts will absorb his cap hits of $24.7 million for 2022 and $29.2 million next season.
Those are average salaries for quarterbacks as of the moment but Indianapolis will be getting a quarterback with extensive playoff experience.
Likewise, the Colts can afford to absorb his cap hit given their massive cap space.
For 2022, the former Boston College standout will have a base salary of $17,205,882 and a $7.5 million roster bonus.
Next season, his base salary increases to $21,705,882 and a $7.5 million roster bonus.
The Colts Are Looking Great
Ryan will lead an offense that features running back Jonathan Taylor and wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.
They also have a solid offensive line with Ryan Kelly, Eric Fisher, and Quenton Nelson.
However, there are rumors that they might bring in Julio Jones to bolster their receiving corps.
If it happens, that reunion might help the Colts get over the postseason hump.
Indianapolis needs an upgrade at left tackle and tight end as well.
