The offseason came a little bit earlier than expected for the St. Louis Cardinals and their devoted fans.
A season in which Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado put up MVP numbers while Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina enjoyed a farewell tour ended in disappointment when the Cards were eliminated by the Philadelphia Phillies.
But Arenado, who recently opted into the remaining five years of his contract, will be receiving a special honor.
Members of the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis voted Arenado as the “MAC Sports Personality of the Year” Award winner.
The award was won by Goldschmidt last season and will be given to Arenado at the Jack Buck Awards on December 7.

Arenado Receives Special Honor
It’s clear that St. Louis has fallen in love with Arenado.
He’s only been a Cardinal for two years, but the fans in St. Louis already appreciate his style of play and his abilities to hit and play Gold Glove-caliber defense.
Arenado hit .293 with 30 home runs and 103 RBI in 2022 and continued to endear himself to Cardinals fans.
The 31-year-old is also a candidate for the National League MVP Award alongside Goldschmidt.
But this is a nice way for Arenado to open up the offseason.
It’s a nice award for him to take home before the major awards for the 2022 season are announced by Major League Baseball, and it could be just the first award he receives.
Arenado has quickly turned himself into a fan favorite in St. Louis, and fans are certainly glad he’s sticking around
