The St. Louis Cardinals are lucky enough to have two MVP candidates in their starting lineup.
These two guys are carrying the Cards as they look to make a deep run into October.
Paul Goldschmidt and Nolan Arenado may be the best corner infield duo in all of baseball with their ability to mash baseballs and play Gold Glove caliber defense at their positions.
Goldschmidt is the clear-cut favorite to win the National League MVP Award, but that’s just fine with Arenado, who made it clear he has nothing but respect for Goldschmidt, even going as far as to call him “the best player in the game.”

Arenado Praises Goldy
This is a bold claim by Arenado and may draw some criticism from others, especially given what Aaron Judge has been able to do and what Shohei Ohtani did last year.
But more than anything, it’s a sign of respect for how Goldschmidt goes about his business on a daily basis.
He has at the very least been the best player in the National League this year and it’s no secret that he most likely will end up as the NL MVP when the season is over.
Arenado’s comments are simply a testament to how Goldschmidt prepares for games and executes his gameplan on a daily basis.
Goldschmidt is already up to 100 RBI on the season, and we haven’t even entered September yet.
While Arenado’s claims are bold, they aren’t foolish.
Goldschmidt has been tearing things up all season long and has been the backbone of this Cardinals team.
Arenado showed some pretty healthy respect for his teammate with these comments and made it clear that he enjoys playing with him on a daily basis.
