Unless you have been hiding under a rock for three months, you probably know that the New York Yankees have been, far and away, the best team in baseball in the 2022 season.
They own an incredible 55-20 record and are working on a three-game winning streak after taking the series finale against the Houston Astros over the weekend and winning the first two against the Oakland Athletics.
It’s not really that surprising to see the Yanks dominating the league.
What’s really shocking is how much better they are compared to the rest of the league, even division leaders.
“The Yankees are eight games better than the second best record in MLB,” Talkin’ Yanks tweeted, with a picture of MLB’s overall leaders.

The next-best team are the 46-27 Astros, and the 47-28 New York Mets.
The Gap Between The Yankees And The Field Is Very Large In 2022
Both of those powerhouses are eight games behind the Bombers, a whopping number that speaks about how insanely good the organization has been this year.
It’s incredible to think how the Yankees have gotten to this point without any major free agent signings.
They performed a crucial trade to bring in Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Josh Donaldson, and Ben Rortvedt, and re-signed Anthony Rizzo to be their first baseman: that’s about it.
But they have some of the best pitching development minds in the game in Matt Blake and Sam Briend, and hitting coach Dillon Lawson has proven to be an asset, too.
Sometimes, good coaching and savvy player development is what an organization needs to take the next step.
The 2022 Yankees are a perfect example, and they are looking like World Series contenders at the moment.
