All season long, Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets has been a major part of the MVP conversation.
True, the man won the trophy last year but the way he was playing this season was just as impressive – if not more so.
On Thursday night, Jokic passed a huge NBA milestone that makes it seem even more likely that he will once again be this season’s MVP.

Jokic became the first player in the history of the league with 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds, and 500 assists in a single season.
For his hard work, Jokic was awarded with a standing ovation from his adoring fans.
Is the MVP trophy next?
Jokic The King
The Nuggets are sixth in the West and about to start another postseason run.
Meanwhile, Jokic has averaged 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 7.9 assists per game.
The way that he moves around the floor is impressive, the way he shoots looks confident and solid, and the way that he passes is sometimes mind-blowing.
Jokic commands the floor like he’s half his size and has been on a whole other level this season.
It’s true that competition for MVP is intense this year.
Not only is Jokic trying to win for a second time, but Joel Embiid of the Philadelphia 76ers is doing amazing work as is Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks, among others.
While the race was close all year, it seems more and more likely that Jokic is going to claim the title yet again.
And how can you blame voters for selecting him after the season he’s had and the records he’s created?
It remains to be seen how the postseason works out for Jokic and his Nuggets but there is no doubt that he had a fantastic regular season once again.
