The Philadelphia Phillies enjoyed a magical run to the World Series in 2022.
After a poor 22-29 start, the Phillies fired manager Joe Girardi and promoted bench coach Rob Thomson to the managerial role, after which they went on a roll to secure the final National League Wild Card spot and reach the postseason for the first time since 2011.
They then wiped out the St. Louis Cardinals, the then-defending champion Atlanta Braves, and the San Diego Padres to reach the World Series.
The Phils ultimately fell short, losing in six games to the Houston Astros.
But this may have just been the beginning for the Phillies.
After Game 6, Nick Castellanos commented on what could lie ahead for the Phillies after such an impressive run.
“This is just the beginning. Now everybody who is on this team has had this run, played in the postseason…
We were only 2 wins away from being the best team. We’re excited for what lies ahead”-Nick Castellanos on the experience the Phillies gained playing in the World Series pic.twitter.com/OzftRLByp2

Castellanos Comments On World Series Run
The Phillies certainly gained some valuable experience this postseason.
They were heavy underdogs in almost every matchup.
They were not expected to beat the Cardinals.
They pulled off a two-game sweep to reach the NLDS.
Against the 101-win Braves, they were not expected to win.
They knocked out the defending champions and moved on to play another underdog in the Padres, who they disposed of in five games.
And against the Astros, they came to within two victories of securing their first World Series title since 2008.
Memorable performances by Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber carried them deep into October.
Unfortunately, they fell just short against Houston.
But having been through the grind, the Phillies will be prepared for yet another run in 2023 as they try and build off of their 2022 success.
