In a surprising announcement, the Arizona Cardinals have asked the Cincinnati Bengals to interview Lou Anarumo just hours after they were eliminated.
As one might imagine, this announcement has been met with varying levels of excitement across the league.
At least initially, the reactions have been overwhelmingly positive in favor of Anarumo.
I’m endorsing Lou Anarumo for Cardinals head coach

At least in the eyes of this Cardinals fan, Anarumo is his pick to be the Cardinals’ newest head coach.
The Cardinals defense struggled in 2022, giving up the third-most points of any team in the NFL.
Anarumo has spent ten years coaching in the league, and all of his positions have been defensive-minded.
Lou Anarumo did some really cool things with the Bengals defense this year. Intriguing candidate for the Cardinals, though I'm sure Cincy would hate to lose him.

The Cardinals are likely looking to emulate what Anarumo did in Cincinnati this season, as the Bengals defense allowed the seventh-fewest points per game.
Will the Bengals entertain the possibility of letting him go, considering the success they found this year?
The Bengals have reached the AFC Championship in back-to-back seasons, and would likely be more in favor of building their defense with Anarumo at the helm.
However, money tends to be the loudest influence in decisions like this.
If the Cardinals offer him more money, and it’s the right fit, Anarumo might be on the move to Arizona.
The Cardinals offense has been an issue for them as of late, as they only averaged 20 points per game in 2022.
With the inquiry of Anarumo, however, the Cardinals appear to be more focused on defense, at least, at the moment.
With just four head coaching openings left, the Cardinals will need to act fast in their search.
