The NFL world has spent the week following all the firings taking place around the league.
The latest came Thursday when the Houston Texans fired head coach David Culley after one season.
It was a controversial move and Texans GM Nick Caserio faced the media Friday to discuss Culley, Deshaun Watson, and much more.
I asked Texans GM Nick Caserio about the new head coach walking into the uncertainty of the franchise like former head coach David Culley did.#Texans #Sarge pic.twitter.com/1dy8blakdO

He talked on a variety of topics and the main takeaway was that he is never going to reveal much.
That had fans talking about rumors and potential plans for the franchise.
I’ve never met someone who could use A LOT of words to essentially say nothing like Nick Caserio
It’s almost impressive

NFL World Reacts To Nick Caserio’s Media Day
Firing Culley does not take away from the fact the Texans and Caserio still have to figure out the Watson situation.
That has been the most important thing of all for the entirety of the season.
Fans and those reacting may already be too fed up to buy into anything the GM had to say.
Nick Caserio said they are better today then last year but yet still fires the head coach. What a clown show in @HoustonTexans

The 2nd thing was Nick feeling immense job security, despite not many GMs getting to hire a 3rd coach (he’s on his 2nd)
He shutdown any talk about a timeline and was adamant that any job pressure was external (from the media) and not internal (from Cal McNair)

@HoustonTexans Nick Caserio is a coward for using David Culley. Never more evident then after he spoke to reporters today. It was obvious he had no real reason for firing Culley. First Watson wants out bc of Caserio now this. Texans gonna ruin the entire organization for this man

A GM who fires a coach after one season is always going to draw criticism because they are the one who picks the players.
Caserio and the entire organization seemed to chalk up the year as a loss from the start once it became clear Watson was not going to play.
Yet he seems to have good job security as he cleans up the messes made by Bill O’Brien.
They’re hoping that Watson brings multiple picks as well, but he has to get cleared first and they’re probably not going to get full compensation for him.
It’s not a good job. The worst part is that you have to work for Cal McNair, Jack Easterby & Nick Caserio. #Texans https://t.co/hllxRontjN

I’m not going to hate on my guy Nick Caserio dancing around questions in the press conference, because to be honest that’s what I sound like on most of my work calls. And hey, it’s worked for me this long.

The Texans now have back-to-back four-win seasons after a playoff berth in 2019.
They have no franchise quarterback and will try to hire a coach to turn around an entire franchise.
The GM was also on the headset during games, which could scare away potential big-name hires.
Nick Caserio was part of David Culley's practices and was on the headset advising Culley on game management. It'll be interesting to see if any of that changes with a new Texans head coach.

Caserio seems confident his plan will work.
Yet fans remain to be convinced after another reset to begin the offseason.
