The NFL news cycle can often feature avoidable stories that seemingly come out of thin air.
That is true Thursday thanks to ESPN analyst and former NFL player Bart Scott.
He made some extremely controversial comments about how the Baltimore Ravens will treat Joe Burrow throughout the remainder of his career.
Bart Scott chose violence this morning. Literally. 🤯 pic.twitter.com/MiJSUN8XhM

Scott said there will be a “red dot” on Burrow, said Baltimore has “killers”, and also mentioned the Ravens will be “head hunting” Burrow for the rest of his career.
This is all because Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals ran up the score last week.
Louis Riddick tried to shut Scott down, but he kept on going and saying bad thing after bad thing.
The NFL world reacted, mainly in disbelief at what Scott was saying.
Interesting clip of Bart Scott seemingly admitting on national television that the Baltimore Ravens have a bounty system that has been in place for years. #RedDot https://t.co/bLFyretE5z

Bart Scott was a great player. He’s also an instigator. That makes him perfect for the monstrosity that is ESPN daily programming.

Why would he say all of this?
NFL World Offers Reaction To Scott’s Comments
So is Scott admitting that the Ravens have a culture where they promote injuring other players?
He has now created an issue for that entire organization that is completely unnecessary.
It would be surprising if ESPN does not reprimand him in some way.

Bart Scott talking about tackling the arms intentionally so the QB can't brace his head when it hits the ground is oh-so-telling

Bro. Bart Scott said "red dot. Every Raven knows what red dot means". @NFL @nflcommish you hearing this?

Perhaps the NFL will have to give the Ravens a call and ask about what Scott was talking about.
An entire defense trying to injure opposing quarterbacks on a weekly basis is something that would need to be addressed.
Bart scott talking about how the ravens should purposefully injure joe burrow is super problematic @LRiddickESPN @diannaESPN @BartScott57

So Bart Scott is actively advocating head hunting a player for the rest of his career in retaliation for running up the score a bit? Against the same team who zero blitzed a back-up QB leading by 24?
Get that man off TV.

It is no secret that the NFL used to be a more violent game.
Bounty systems were exposed and huge, dangerous hits were celebrated with highlight packages.
But times are changing, or so we are led to believe, and Scott cannot be saying this type of thing on national television.
Are fans supposed to celebrate the idea of the Ravens injuring one of the league’s bright young stars?
Can yall talk football instead of listening to Bart Scott project what he wished he did in the NFL? @LRiddickESPN

ESPN may just decide to let time pass and have Scott’s comments fade from the news cycle.
Yet this is still a concern and the fact Scott would say something like this means he deserves the backlash he is getting.

His comments were and are beyond childish and inexcusable!!! Millions of people heard this child/man basically call for someone, anyone to hurt another being simply because he doesn’t like him. This sounded like a chapter from the official book of “How to Bully others that have what you want.” No thanks ESPN. You can keep paying him multi$$$$$ but it won’t come out of my pocket. You are no longer reputable as far as I’m concerned. No more ESPN in my home!!
