Kyler Murray‘s contract extension discussion continues to dominate the Arizona Cardinals‘ offseason.
Murray and his agent, Erik Burkhardt, are stern with their stand that the quarterback will not play in 2022 unless he gets a contract extension.
They would like to cash in on a surging quarterback market thanks to the deals signed by Matthew Stafford, Derek Carr, Deshaun Watson, and Aaron Rodgers.
Murray argues that helping the Cardinals end their postseason drought gives him the merit to ask for a lucrative deal.
Likewise, they do not have alternatives once he walks away.
However, former NFL player Mitchell Schwartz debunked an argument by former Cardinals players Chase Edmonds and Patrick Peterson.
Since he was drafted they’ve traded for Hopkins, signed AJ Green, traded for Zach Ertz, and drafted two 2nd round WRs. Built a very good D, signed Watt. 6th best defense according to DVOA. Maybe they should’ve traded for Davante and Tyreek and Deebo and DK and AJ Brown?? https://t.co/hEFSBxecrZ

In an article on NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk, Peterson and Edmonds claim that Arizona isn’t doing enough to give Murray the confidence that he could win.
Schwartz was armed with several counterarguments.
The offensive lineman pointed out that the Cardinals traded for DeAndre Hopkins and Zach Ertz and signed A.J. Green.
They’ve also selected Andy Isabella and Rondale Moore in the second round of the 2019 and 2021 drafts, respectively.
Arizona also built a solid defense that ranked sixth according to DVOA.
Schwartz ended his rebuttal by joking, “Maybe they should’ve traded for Davante and Tyreek and Deebo and DK and AJ Brown??”
The Cardinals And Murray Are Better Off Being Together
Cardinals fans hope that the team and Murray will find a peaceful resolution to this situation.
Arizona has done more than enough to help Murray win.
Unfortunately, the Los Angeles Rams were the better team during their Wild Card showdown.
Perhaps Murray could also learn to take some blame when things don’t go according to plan.
Who knows, maybe he’s alienating himself from the locker room with his antics.
