3 NFL Teams That Could Give Sam Darnold A Fresh Start

Sam Darnold and his time with the Carolina Panthers might end soon.

The Panthers spent the first part of the NFL offseason trying to get quarterback Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans.

However, they would lose the sweepstakes to get him.

That now leaves the team with Darnold and the sixth overall pick in the first-round of the NFL Draft.

There are rumors of the Panthers drafting a quarterback with that sixth pick after they missed out on Watson.

Darnold would respond to those rumors by saying it would be out of his control.

Sam Darnold was asked how he would feel if the Panthers drafted a quarterback at 6. Here’s his response:

If the Panthers draft a quarterback, what three teams would be a better fit for Darnold moving forward?

3. Houston Texans

The Texans are without a proven quarterback for the 2022 season.

However, they could draft a quarterback in 2022 or 2023 with the picks they have now.

The team would be a good fit for Darnold as a starting quarterback.

Whether the Texans draft their quarterback in 2022 or 2023, it at least gives Darnold some starting time.

With that time, he could prove to the team, and other NFL teams, that he’s starting quarterback material.

It can also revitalize his career in the NFL that fizzled out from being in New York and Carolina.

However, a move there would only ensure Darnold of one year of starting time.

2. Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are another team that needs an established quarterback under center.

However, they too could draft a quarterback with one of the draft picks they have in the first-round of the NFL Draft.

If Seattle really wants to draft a quarterback, Willis is there at 5 and they want to move up, then a premium is paid. When Washington moved up for spots for RG3 they gave up three number ones. We should swap picks and get both No. 1s next year.

Getting Darnold would instantly improve their team.

It also could give them the option to build around Darnold if they wish to do that.

They already have a solid receiver with DK Metcalf.

The picks they have could build up the offense around Darnold as opposed to using the pick for a quarterback.

A move here also gives him an established head coach that can help him grow as a quarterback.

He never had that stability in New York or Carolina.

1. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

If Darnold wants to be a backup with a chance of being starting quarterback later on in his career, Tampa is the fit for him.

While Tom Brady is the king in Tampa for now, he will retire at some point.

When that time comes, Darnold can replace the seven-time Super Bowl champ.

It also gives him the chance to learn from the best quarterback in the NFL.

Brady can show him how he grew into the quarterback that he is today.

So being the backup behind the greatest of all time has its perks.

He can hone his craft with the great coaching and quarterback in Tampa.

It will make him a better player for the day he gets to start in the NFL once again.

He also gets a shot at a Super Bowl ring while with the Bucs.

Who could say no to playing with Brady and getting a Super Bowl ring?

That’s what makes a move to Tampa one of the best fits for him.
