The NFL Week 14 slate was full of highly competitive games.
We saw some heavy favorites struggle with lesser teams and even a few division leaders faltered.
But, one of the best parts of Week 14 was the elite quarterback play.
There were a few QBs that surprised the league with their play this week.
We also saw a rookie making his first career start take down the greatest of all time.
In a week full of impressive quarterback play, here were the two that stepped up the most.
1. Jared Goff
For a team that no one expected much from this season, the Detroit Lions are playing very good football.
After starting the season 1-6, many people thought the Lions were headed for another top-five draft pick.
But, they have won five of their last six games and now find themselves firmly in the NFC playoff picture.
One big reason for that has been the play of quarterback Jared Goff.
Goff was awesome in Week 14, throwing for 330 yards and three touchdowns.

He did that against the division-leading Minnesota Vikings.
Goff has started to come into his own in his second full season with the Lions.
He has full command of the offense and plenty of good weapons to throw the ball to.
Goff stepped up in a big way on Sunday and helped his Lions pull off a huge victory.
2. Brock Purdy
So who was the rookie quarterback that took down the greatest of all time in his first career start you might ask?
That was seventh-round draft pick, Brock Purdy.
Making his first career start, Purdy was sensational.

He completed 16 of 21 passes for 185 yards and two touchdowns.
Also, he helped lead his team to a dominant 35-7 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Many people thought the 49ers’ season would be over once Jimmy Garoppolo got hurt.
But, they did not miss a beat this week with Purdy.
It will be interesting to see how far the rookie quarterback can lead the 49ers this year.
But, he is certainly off to a good start.
