For a while, Thursday night’s NFL matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans was competitive, even though the Eagles came in undefeated and the Texans were 1-5-1.
But throughout the second half, Philly bore down and took control en route to a 29-17 victory.
To no one’s surprise, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts played well, as did running back Miles Sanders.
But there were two other men who are less heralded who came up big during this contest.
1. Dameon Pierce
The Texans look like hot garbage right now, but the one solid player they have on the offensive side of the ball is Dameon Pierce.
Coming into Thursday, he had 539 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, as well as an additional touchdown in the air.
Against Philly, he piled up 139 rushing yards on 27 carries.

The 22-year-old rookie, who wasn’t taken until the fourth round of April’s NFL Draft, may not make the Pro Bowl this year, but he will almost certainly at least get some consideration for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
Pierce could be the one glimmer of hope for the future Texans fans have right now.
2. Dallas Goedert
This season, wide receiver A.J. Brown has been the Eagles’ biggest weapon in the air, but Dallas Goedert was their biggest star on Thursday.
The tight end reached 100 receiving yards and scored a touchdown early in the fourth quarter that put them up 27-17 and practically sealed victory.
Goedert, who recorded 830 yards and four touchdowns last year, could be on his way to a career season this year, as he has 521 yards and two touchdowns through eight contests.
