Houston Texans wide receiver Brandin Cooks is getting much interest from other NFL teams.
He was one of the few bright spots for the Texans last season, with 1,037 yards and six touchdowns.
Any team that would trade for him will be getting a reliable target for their quarterback.
However, Houston might not make him available for now, as Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson pointed out.
Texans are regarded as unlikely to trade Brandin Cooks at this time, per league sources, despite inquiries from NFL teams. Team held preliminary conversations this offseason about potential extension. Should they change course, price of a trade: at least second-round draft pick.

Wilson said, “Texans are regarded as unlikely to trade Brandin Cooks at this time, per league sources, despite inquiries from NFL teams. Team held preliminary conversations this offseason about a potential extension. Should they change course, price of a trade: at least second-round draft pick.”
The Texans are hoping that Cooks will sign a long-term deal.
He is currently in the last year of the five-year, $80 million contract he signed with the Los Angeles Rams in 2018.
Houston absorbed that deal in 2020 when the Rams traded him and their 2022 fourth-rounder for the Texans’ 2020 second-rounder which turned out to be Van Jefferson.
But it would be hard to convince him to stay, especially if the Texans remain uncompetitive.
A few seasons ago, they were still competing for division titles and playoff spots.
Unfortunately, the team started to collapse when former head coach and general manager Bill O’Brien traded DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals for meager returns.
Teams Can Pay Asking Price For Cooks
It would be easy for NFL franchises to let go of that second-round pick because they will get a proven commodity in Cooks.
There’s no certainty if draft picks will pan out or will contribute immediately.
But with Cooks, they know what they will be getting.
Therefore, Houston’s phone lines will be busy once they decide to put up Cooks for trade.
