The Arizona Cardinals inked Kliff Kingsbury to a contract extension last year after they made a playoff trip.
One year later, Kingsbury is part of the firings on Black Monday, and now Arizona will be in the market for another head coach once again.
Defensive coordinator Vance Joseph is a popular option, and the Cardinals DC has head coach experience from when he was with the Denver Broncos for two seasons.
However, NFL insider Mike Garafolo shared an ironic suggestion for the Cardinals:
They should hire Steve Wilks. https://t.co/3bC5YWc3SS

“They should hire Steve Wilks,” per Mike Garafolo.
Why is this ironic?
The Cardinals had Wilks as the head coach for one year before moving on from him and hiring Kingsbury.
Wilks then became the interim head coach for the Carolina Panthers midseason after Matt Rhule was fired from his duties.
Wilks did a decent job with the Panthers, going 6-6 as interim head coach despite flip-flopping between a flurry of quarterbacks in Sam Darnold, P.J. Walker, and Baker Mayfield.
As such, Wilks has emerged as a potential option for the long-term position for Carolina, and the Cardinals have to be thinking about what could have been.
Despite giving Kingsbury an extension last year, they are on the market once again.
The NFL head coaching cycle continues to shift quickly, and Wilks has a chance to get the job with the Panthers while the Cardinals are searching once again for another head coach.
You can’t make this stuff up.
