Eight weeks ago, Jimmy Garoppolo broke his foot, leaving the San Francisco 49ers in the hands of a seventh-round draft pick, Brock Purdy.
As most of the world is well aware of by this point, Purdy has shined in the absence of Garoppolo and has brought the 49ers to the NFC Championship.
Although Purdy has played extremely well for the 49ers, one question remained unanswered.
What happens if Garoppolo was ready to play for this game?
Earlier this afternoon, we received an answer.
#49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Jimmy Garoppolo had X-rays and he does not expect to have him this weekend. No surprise, given he'll only be eight weeks out from his broken foot on Sunday.

The team is not anticipating having Garoppolo available for this weekend, which has to be a sigh of relief for Purdy.
Purdy has led the 49ers to eight straight victories, including two wins in the playoffs.
While Purdy hasn’t lit up the stat sheets by any means, his mistake-free football paired with the 49ers’ defense has been unmatched.
Although we wish nothing but the best for Garoppolo, his being out again this week doesn’t even open the door or give him a chance to start.
Purdy’s inexperience might be off-putting to some, but, when a team is rolling like the 49ers, it would not benefit them to halt the momentum that Purdy has provided.
His teammates seem to enjoy having him around the locker room, and he has established connections with the 49ers’ two best pass-catchers, George Kittle and Deebo Samuel.
With these three in harmony, and the defense continuing to dominate, the 49ers look like the team to beat.
Will the Philadelphia Eagles be able to knock them off their pedestal this weekend?
