It’s surprising that NFL defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi remains unsigned.
He played for the Cincinnati Bengals last season and made a difference in their run to Super Bowl LVI.
Last season, the former Charlotte standout had a career-high seven sacks to go with 49 total tackles.
But for now, he continues to respond to invites from NFL teams, hoping to continue his career.
Former Bengals’ DT Larry Ogunjobi, who had seven sacks last season, is visiting today with the Pittsburgh Steelers, per source. He recently visited with the New York Jets.

ESPN’s NFL insider Adam Schefter tweeted, “Former Bengals’ DT Larry Ogunjobi, who had seven sacks last season, is visiting today with the Pittsburgh Steelers, per source. He recently visited with the New York Jets.”
While nothing is guaranteed in these visits, it still shows that the Jets and the Steelers are highly interested in Ogunjobi.
The Jets need his services, especially after finishing with only 33 sacks last season.
That number makes them the sixth-worst team in that department.
Likewise, the Jets have a void at defensive tackle after Folorunso Fatukasi joined the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Steelers Need More Push In The Trenches
Top talent is scattered across the Steelers’ defensive unit.
They have reigning Defensive Player of the Year T.J. Watt, Devin Bush, Alex Highsmith, and Myles Jack at linebacker.
Meanwhile, Minkah Fitzpatrick is the anchor of their secondary.
But Ogunjobi will be handy in creating more pressure upfront to disrupt the opposing team’s offense.
He, Tyson Alualu, and Cameron Heyward will be a problem if they preoccupy offensive linemen.
However, it’s difficult to see Ogunjobi signing a long-term contract with the Steelers if the interest is mutual.
Since they are always on the lookout for top talent, they would rather keep him for one or two seasons before finding other options.
Still, he would give it his all if the Steelers will have him.
