The Indianapolis Colts just made the imbalance of quarterback talent even more pronounced after trading for former league MVP Matt Ryan from the Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons had a difficult decision before 4 p.m. today of whether to stick with Ryan and pay his $7.5 million signing bonus.

Otherwise, they must trade him to another team wherein he could complete his NFL career.

Indianapolis gets a quarterback that has a few great seasons left in him.

His presence will be a great bridge period until they find another franchise quarterback.

In return, the Colts did not give up much to acquire the veteran quarterback, as Pro Football Focus writer Ari Meirov reported.

Meirov tweeted, “Full trade terms: #Falcons are sending QB Matt Ryan to the #Colts for a 3rd-round pick, as @PatMcAfeeShow first said.

Ryan may not be one of the top quarterbacks in the league anymore, but he still is capable of leading the Colts to victory.

Likewise, the team does not have any problems absorbing his salary given their massive cap space.

The team’s fans hope that Ryan’s arrival will help them reach the playoffs.

Will The Colts Offense Finally Run Smoothly?

For all the trouble that the Colts suffered from Carson Wentz under center, Ryan is the exact opposite.

He’s a more calculated guy and that extensive experience will come in during the big moments.

Ryan will be able to run a team that has an explosive running back in Jonathan Taylor.

He will also need more than Michael Pittman Jr. and Mo Alie-Cox as targets.

Despite the roster concerns they still have, having Ryan under center should help them remain competitive in the Wild West that is the AFC.
