The Dallas Cowboys drafted Ezekiel Elliott as the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Since then, Elliott has turned into one of the league’s best running backs and has been efficient in both the running and passing games.
When a running back reaches a certain age, generally, their production begins to decline.
Elliott is now 27 years old, and the Cowboys need to find out what they are going to do with him moving forward.
Earlier today, the beginning of their plan was revealed.

Recent reporting has indicated that the Cowboys will look to the combine to gather a semblance of Elliott’s value.
If they believe that he has enough gas in the tank for another season, then the Cowboys will likely extend him.
However, if the Cowboys encounter a shiny new toy at the combine, one that they see a long future with, Elliott could find himself on a new roster.
This incoming draft class has many intriguing options at running back, even more so than the 2022 class.
When taking a look at the 2022 class, both Breece Hall and Kenneth Walker were able to make an immediate NFL impact.
The Cowboys might be looking at that example and move on from Elliott.
He has been a great offensive piece for the Cowboys, but eventually, teams move on from players, even those that make a gigantic impact on their roster.
The draft is nearly two months away, and the Cowboys will have some difficult decisions to make in the coming weeks.
