He spent his first four seasons with the New Orleans Saints and was the team’s starting safety coming into 2021.
A year later, contract extension talks between both parties fizzled.
That’s where the Eagles swoop in to add another starter in their secondary.

Saints and Eagles Become Trade Partners Again
Before the 2022 NFL Draft, the Saints and Eagles finalized a trade that would help their future prospects.
The Eagles gave up two 2022 first-rounders and a 2022 sixth-rounder.
Meanwhile, the Saints sent their 2022 first, third, and seventh-rounders, a 2023 second-rounder, and 2024 third-rounder.
Through that trade, the Saints were able to trade up to number 11 to select wide receiver Chris Olave.
On the other hand, the Eagles get an extra first-rounder in the next draft wherein better quarterback talent might be available.
