The Los Angeles Chargers entered the 2022 season with hopes of competing for a spot in the Super Bowl, and despite a massive rash of injuries, they still managed to make the playoffs with a 10-7 record.
But once there, they embarrassed themselves, blowing a 27-0 lead to the Jacksonville Jaguars in the wild-card round and losing by one point on a last-second field goal.
It led to Chargers fans begging for the dismissal of head coach Brandon Staley, whom some thought was on the hot seat.
Instead, the team simply fired offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi.
Los Angeles is reportedly interested in hiring Greg Olsen, who is currently a senior offensive assistant for the Los Angeles Rams, but now, an interesting new candidate has emerged: Joe Brady.
The #Chargers have requested permission to interview #Bills QBs coach Joe Brady for their offensive coordinator job, sources say. Brady has multiple requests, though it’s unclear as of now which, if any, he’ll accept.

Brady is just 33 years of age, but he has served on the coaching staffs of Sean Payton on the New Orleans Saints and Sean McDermott on the Buffalo Bills, his current employer.
Prior to being the quarterbacks coach of the Bills, he spent two years as the offensive coordinator of the Carolina Panthers in 2020 and 2021.
In addition, Brady was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach for Louisiana State University in 2019 when it won the NCAA national championship, which gave him the opportunity to work with current NFL stars Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson.
While there, he won the Broyles Award for being the best assistant coach in college football.
Ideally, the Chargers would hire someone a little more experienced with a heavier resume, but perhaps Brady has shown enough in terms of being a good offensive mind, as well as someone who can grow over time.
