Seriously, is there really an NFL offseason?

Think about it, the cycle continues after the Super Bowl ends.

First comes Black Monday wherein coaches who did not perform well get the boot.

Then there’s the offseason and free agency which starts before the league has its annual meeting.

Meanwhile, countless discussions, blog posts, and podcasts about free agent signings and roster moves are being discussed.

Mock drafts are also put up leading the annual rookie draft.

After which, OTAs and the minicamps happen before training camp.

Those team activities also give rise to side stories of players missing camp to hold out for a better contract.

Teams will then participate in preseason games which is relatively a dress rehearsal for the big show.

Finally, the season starts and everyone can focus on the games.

That day is near as Pro Football Focus writer Ari Meirov takes note.

Meirov tweeted, “Friendly reminder that we’re 10 Sundays away from a full slate of NFL games.”

There are highly interesting games on that list, starting from the face-off between division rivals Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals.

Pittsburgh will be competing in their first season after Ben Roethlisberger‘s retirement and they hope that Mitchell Trubisky or Kenny Pickett will be his worthy successor.

Meanwhile, the Bengals are fresh from their Super Bowl stint and have revamped their offensive line to protect Joe Burrow.

Other Intriguing Week 1 Games

That game between the New England Patriots and the Miami Dolphins can also turn out to be a classic.

The Dolphins had one of their busiest offseasons as they’ve signed the likes of Chase Edmonds, Cedrick Wilson, and Tyreek Hill to boost their offense.

On the other hand, the Patriots made it to last year’s playoffs and are looking to continue their improvement in Mac Jones‘ second season.

Aside from these two games, the season opener between the Los Angeles Rams and the Buffalo Bills on September 9 should deliver an intriguing outcome.
